My psychotherapy approach is characterized by the following:

A conviction that personality is composed not only of
visible traits and conscious attitudes, but also of a
dynamic unconscious system

A Jungian and Object Relations (developmental) frame of reference for understanding the personality

An appreciation of the psychobiological components of mood and behavior

An attentiveness to the therapeutic relationship itself as an instrument of healing and change

In treating women, a recognition of the particular growth issues inherent in women’s lives, and an affirmation of the validity of a unique, woman’s mode of experiencing and expressing growth

A commitment to using therapy to empower clients for life.

My therapy methods include but are not limited to:

Client-centered verbal exploration, aimed at insight

Exercises to clarify issues, values, problems

  Personality or Temperament assessment

  Feelings and Functioning assessment

  Psychosocial education

“Homework” exercises and journaling, aimed at insight
and progress assessment

  Cognitive-Behavioral strategies for changing ingrained
behavior patterns
